Spanning an impressive 55 cm in length and engineered from over 800 precision-cut wooden pieces, this model accurately replicates the raw power, complex gear trains, and functional mechanics of a real modern mobile crane.
This was quite a challenging project. First, I have to say the instructions were difficult to read because of the "faded" printing. Because I have been assembling "stuff" for a long time (70 + years) I did not have much of an issue. The building process required a dozen plus tools, some quick drying wood glue, and some "on the spot modifications" to accomplish the assembly. Of note was the small, but intricate "block and fall" assembly. Firstly the "cord" is WAY too thick. And the sheave placement is NOT clear at all. That little diagram is useless. For someone unfamiliar with it ????? After assembly I had to hang a lead weight from the hook to keep the line from twisting. I figured about fifteen + hours of assembly time, but it was well worth it.
